Note: The ‘HD handlebar dimple’ is a recess on the underside of the handlebar ends, which is necessary for Harley-Davidson models from 1982 onwards with 1’ handlebars, so that the handlebar cables are not pinched between the handlebars and the controls. This ‘dent’ does not restrict the use of the handlebar on vehicles from other manufacturers or on Harleys before 1982 and is not visible to the driver.

Note: The accessory handlebars are supplied without a hole for the switch unit lock. These are positioned differently depending on the motorcycle model. It is permissible to drill the handlebar for the lock: To do this, align your new handlebar optimally with the vehicle. Now mount the switch units, check that there is sufficient clearance to the tank when the steering is fully turned, mark the hole for the lock and drill the handlebar to the appropriate diameter. If you want to avoid the drill slipping off the smooth steering tube when converting the handlebars, or if you tend to ‘go wrong’ when centre-punching or somehow always drill crookedly into the workpiece, you should use the LSL drilling template, order no. 10005224 (see bottom of picture) – better safe than sorry, with this template such mistakes cannot happen.
